Yes, I am an in-network provider with:
- Regence
- First Choice Health
- United Healthcare
For all other insurance companies, I am an out-of-network provider. Many major WA companies cover out-of-network nutrition visits at 100% Make sure to call your insurance company to verify your benefits.
On a case-by-case basis, Nutrition Elevated can submit out-of-network claims to your insurance company on your behalf. Please let us know via email, or in a visit, if you’d like more information about this option.
An in-network provider often provides services that cost you less out-of-pocket due to negotiated rates with insurance companies. However, this often comes with copayments, deductibles, and limited coverage for certain treatments or services. An in-network provider must also strictly adhere to the insurance guidelines outlined in their signed contract, which can limit treatment options.
For example, as an in-network dietitian, I cannot bill your insurance company for our visit if:
- You are not located in Washington State (this applies to virtual and in-person visits)
- Your video is not turned on for the entire visit
- Parents/caregivers are requesting a visit with me without their minor present (which is often necessary when supporting teen clients)
An out-of-network provider does not have a contracted agreement with insurance companies and bills clients directly for services. Clients can then submit a claim (Superbill) to their insurance provider and may be reimbursed for a portion of the fees. A common misconception is that insurance will not cover any nutrition visits unless they are with an in-network dietitian. We encourage you to call your insurance provider to verify your benefits before assuming coverage limitations.
A Superbill is a document (created by the provided who rendered services to you, the client) that includes information about the services you received, including diagnosis codes (ICD-10 codes), the cost of the visit, and how much you paid out-of-pocket.
You then submit the Superbill (typically online) to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Advances in technology have made this a streamlined and convenient process that reduces the likelihood of errors or delays associated with manual processing. You are often able to track the claim and monitor the progress of your claims efficiently.
It is strongly recommended that you contact your insurance directly to verify coverage prior to your first appointment. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and use this script to guide your conversation.
I will either bill your insurance company (if I am an in-network provider), or you directly, for the following:

- Nutrition Follow-up Visits (55 minutes): $200

Any additional time >15 minutes cannot be billed to insurance and will incur an out-of-pocket fee of $200/hr (billed in 15-minute increments).
The following services cannot be billed to insurance, and will incur an out-of-pocket fee for all clients:
