A brief overview of
The Nutrition Counseling Process
Step 1: Initial Nutrition Consultation
The main purpose of this visit is to better understand your motivations for working together. I ask all new clients to complete detailed intake paperwork prior to the start of their first visit so we can spend our initial time together diving into understanding your unique relationship with food and your body. We’ll explore your nutrition and exercise aspirations, working together to assess how I can optimally support you in achieving these goals. This ensures that my recommendations are not only evidence-based but also aligned with your unique needs and values.
While there is technically only one visit labeled as the “consultation”, gaining a better understanding of each client unfolds gradually over several visits. Eating behaviors are multifaceted and it is through ongoing and consistent sessions that we delve into the nuanced layers.
After the consultation, I will draft a proposed treatment plan for you. We’ll review this plan together at the start of your first follow-up visit.
Step 2: Regular Follow-up Visits
(normally every 1-2 weeks)
Regular follow-up visits allow us to establish a strong rapport. Subsequent nutrition visits build on the foundation built during the consultation, allowing us to further uncover nuances in your history and preferences. These sessions provide the space for discussing any challenges or successes encountered during implementation of any goals we set together.
